Delivering a Safer Hydrotherapy Environment for an AFL Club

The hydrotherapy facility and athlete change rooms at GMHBA Stadium are used daily by Geelong Cats players moving barefoot across wet surfaces as part of training and recovery. When the existing tiled flooring began losing its slip resistance after years of constant use, the club needed a flooring system built specifically for that environment. It had to handle permanent moisture, heavy daily use, and the safety standards expected of a professional sporting facility.

The old tiled surface, with its network of grout lines, had become harder to keep clean and was no longer performing the way a wet, barefoot training environment demands. Monotek® was engaged to replace it with its Aquatic System, a seamless resin surface engineered for aquatic and wet commercial settings. The finish was custom-matched to a Cats Blue to reflect the club’s own branding.
