The project faced several challenges that required effective solutions. The existing sheet vinyl flooring was damaged at joints and junctions, causing it to lift in certain areas, which created significant trip hazards and posed food safety risks. Additionally, the failing floor increased the risk of contamination, making it difficult to comply with strict food safety regulations. Finally, the kitchen required a durable, long-lasting flooring solution that could endure heavy use and withstand rigorous cleaning protocols.

To address the challenges, Monotek provided a comprehensive solution. The damaged vinyl and adhesive were removed using mechanical scrapers and dust-captured diamond grinding, ensuring a clean surface. Drainage points and doorways were also ground down for seamless transitions. To enhance hygiene and simplify cleaning, a custom 75mm radius MONOTEK® coving was installed at all wall/floor junctions. Finally, Monotek applied a durable 3–4mm MONOTEK® 412/332 self-leveling, multi-colored anti-slip flooring system in “Opal Grey” across 210m² of floor area, providing a robust and safe solution for the kitchen.

Additionally, the Monotek flooring provided a long-lasting, easy-to-maintain solution, significantly reducing the need for future repairs and enhancing the kitchen’s operational efficiency.
