The project faced several challenges that required tailored solutions. First, the concourse flooring surrounding the training pool needed to ensure slip resistance and durability in wet, high-traffic areas. The pool interior also required a robust coating to withstand continuous water exposure and the chemicals used for maintenance. Additionally, both the flooring and pool coatings had to be durable enough to endure the rigorous demands of military training exercises.

Monotek provided a comprehensive solution to meet the project’s needs. For the concourse and changeroom areas, a 3–4mm MONOTEK® 412/332/527 coloured sand anti-slip flooring system was applied across 900m², offering both durability and enhanced safety. To protect the pool interior, Luxapool’s high-build, two-component epoxy system was used to coat 670m² of the training pool in a striking “Adriatic Blue” finish, providing excellent water and chemical resistance through a three-coat application. Both systems were installed efficiently within the project timeline, ensuring minimal disruption to naval training schedules.

The project achieved significant results in several areas. The slip-resistant flooring greatly enhanced safety by reducing the risk of accidents in high-traffic wet areas, meeting stringent safety standards. Aesthetic excellence was also achieved, with the “Cockburn Granite” finish for the concourse flooring and the “Adriatic Blue” pool interior offering a visually appealing, professional appearance. Both coatings provided durable performance, delivering long-lasting protection against wear, water, and chemical exposure, which helped minimise ongoing maintenance requirements.

The solution added significant value across key areas. The anti-slip flooring enhanced safety in critical training areas, reducing the risk of injury for naval personnel. The durable, low-maintenance coatings ensured long-term usability, minimising downtime for repairs and maintenance. Additionally, the aesthetically cohesive finishes reinforced the professional and functional environment of the facility, contributing to both its visual appeal and operational efficiency.
