“Monotek’s expertise and high-quality coatings ensured our critical areas are protected, durable, and safe, contributing significantly to the success of our expansion.”

The project faced several challenges that required specialised solutions. The tanker loading and unloading bay, as well as bund areas, needed flooring and wall coatings that could withstand exposure to caustic and acidic substances. In addition, the coatings had to meet high durability requirements to endure heavy vehicle traffic and operational wear and tear. Another key challenge was coordinating the application of the coatings within the context of a major building expansion project, ensuring seamless execution alongside other on-site trades.

Monotek provided a tailored solution to address the project’s needs. The high-performance Monotek® 412/332 system was applied, delivering a 3–4mm durable, chemical-resistant coating for both floors and walls. To address specific chemical resistance needs, high-build epoxy Novolac coatings were used in the acid bund areas, ensuring superior protection where it was most critical. The work was carried out in close collaboration with the builder, with the project running from December 2010 to March 2011, ensuring alignment with the overall construction timeline and minimising disruption to other activities on-site.

The project achieved impressive results across multiple areas. The flooring and wall coatings provided long-lasting protection against both harsh chemicals and heavy operational traffic, ensuring durability and reliability. The slip-resistant, durable surfaces also enhanced safety and compliance, meeting all regulatory standards for industrial facilities handling hazardous materials. Additionally, the project was completed on schedule, with all stages delivered on time, supporting the seamless launch of Bulla Dairy’s expanded operations.

Monotek’s solution added significant value across several key areas. The slip-resistant coatings enhanced safety in high-risk chemical handling zones, providing a secure environment for workers. The durable, low-maintenance surfaces improved operational efficiency by reducing the need for frequent repairs and minimising downtime. Additionally, the tailored application addressed specific chemical exposure challenges, ensuring long-term cost savings by providing a robust and sustainable solution.
