“The flooring at Cockburn Regional Aquatic Centre has proven to be a standout feature, offering unmatched safety and aesthetic value. Monotek’s expertise ensured flawless execution.”

City of Cockburn

The project came with several challenges that required innovative solutions. Firstly, the flooring needed to provide slip resistance to ensure safety in high-traffic wet areas such as swimming pool concourses, water slide zones, and changerooms. Additionally, it was essential for the flooring to complement the modern design of the $110 million facility, delivering a visually appealing finish. Finally, the solution had to offer outstanding durability to handle heavy foot traffic, constant water exposure, and long-term wear and tear.

The solution involved the implementation of an advanced flooring system designed to meet the project’s safety and durability needs. Monotek applied its 3–4mm MONOTEK® 412/332/527 coloured sand anti-slip flooring system, providing a robust and reliable surface. To align with the facility’s contemporary aesthetics, the flooring was customised with a bespoke “MONOTEK® Cockburn Granite” colour. This design enhanced the modern appeal while delivering practical functionality. In total, a surface area of 2,500m² was treated, ensuring consistent safety, durability, and visual appeal across all wet-use zones.

The results delivered notable improvements across multiple areas. The anti-slip flooring significantly enhanced safety by providing a secure surface in high-risk wet areas, greatly reducing the likelihood of accidents. The custom “Cockburn Granite” finish seamlessly complemented the centre’s design, adding to the facility’s visual appeal. Additionally, Monotek’s durable coatings ensured long-term performance, offering lasting protection against wear and water damage while minimising ongoing maintenance requirements.

The solution added significant value to the facility across several key areas. The anti-slip technology improved safety, creating a secure environment for the diverse range of users. The durable, low-maintenance surfaces enhanced operational efficiency by reducing long-term upkeep costs. Furthermore, the bespoke finish elevated the facility’s visual appeal, perfectly aligning with its modern architectural standards.
