“Monotek’s flooring solution perfectly complements our upgraded facility, offering both functionality and a premium look that supports our players’ recovery and training needs.”

Collingwood Football Club

The project faced several challenges. The Westpac Centre, formerly the Sports & Entertainment Centre, had facilities that were used during the 1956 Olympics, so upgrading the flooring required preserving the integrity of this historic venue while meeting modern requirements. Additionally, the flooring had to be versatile, practical for aquatic recovery areas such as lap pools, hot and cold recovery pools, and a spa, while also being resilient enough for weights and training areas. Lastly, the flooring needed to align with the $10 million makeover’s high-end architectural and interior design elements, maintaining the facility’s aesthetic appeal.

Monotek provided a comprehensive solution to address the challenges. A 3–4mm MONOTEK® coloured sand system was applied with seamless coving at wall/floor junctions, creating a durable, slip-resistant, and easy-to-clean surface. The flooring was finished in “Black Granite,” offering a sophisticated look that complemented the facility’s modern design while ensuring functionality. The flooring was installed across 140m², covering recovery pools and training areas, delivering a cohesive and resilient surface suitable for the diverse needs of the facility.

The project delivered notable results. The MONOTEK® flooring provided exceptional durability, making it ideal for high-traffic areas and exposure to water and chemicals. The “Black Granite” finish elevated the facility’s aesthetic, aligning with the architectural vision and creating a professional, polished environment. Additionally, the seamless, resilient surface improved safety, hygiene, and ease of maintenance across all zones, enhancing overall functionality throughout the facility.

The durable flooring stands up to the rigorous demands of a professional sports training and recovery facility, ensuring long-term resilience. Seamless, slip-resistant surfaces enhance safety and hygiene, providing a secure and clean environment for athletes. Additionally, the custom “Black Granite” finish not only improves functionality but also enhances the facility’s aesthetic, seamlessly integrating with its modern design.
